Lessons in the Library

DAY 1 (in the Library)

1. Navigate to this LibGuide.

2. Why use a database? Make sure you know usernames and passwords to get into databases. See my note in RED on top of the World Book image in the box to the right.

3. Log into NoodleTools using your Rumsey email account. CREATE project and share with correct INBOX for your teacher/period.

4. Search in World Almanac for Kids to find an article on your first animal.

5. Copy and paste citation of the article into your NoodleTools project.

6. Search in researchIT CT. Make sure you have a public library barcode or have the generic public library card for Rumsey students.

7. You can also search in Destiny for book sources about your animals.

DAY 2 

1. Point out and go over assignment and examples for this project.

2. CREATE note card; CONNECT to its citation/source. Each note card needs title, source, information, paraphrase or summary, tag(s). The "My Ideas" (lightbulb) section is optional, but very useful when needed!

1. CLICK on the picture above to get to Facts on Files' World Almanac for Kids. You will need to type in the username and password

2. SEARCH for one of your animals in the database. Log in to your NoodleTools account. CREATE citations for all article(s) you will use. 

3. CREATE note card(s) in NoodleTools; make sure you CONNECT each note card to its source.

If you need to use another database to find information on your animals, click on one of the images below and use the same process as above. NOTE: If you use WORLD BOOK, do a search for your animal, then click on the RELATED INFORMATION tab. You'll get to links to websites, magazine articles and more that have been evaluated/chosen by World Book editorial staff. 


 

If on campus, click the image below to get to researchIT CT databases If you are at home and see the image below, type in your public library barcode or the generic Rumsey barcode hanging in dorm common rooms and computer labs.
